# Open source tools from our team

Ruby gems and Heroku tooling we've built and published, free for anyone to use.

## What we've built

### DocPDF

Ruby gem

Converts Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, HTML, images and plain text to PDF, with optional watermarking. Swappable adapters let you bring the PDF and image libraries you already use.

- [On RubyGems](https://rubygems.org/gems/docpdf)

### credential\_parity

Ruby gem

Catches Rails credential drift between environments before it reaches production. When staging is missing a key that production has, or spells it differently, your tests fail instead of your next deploy.

- [On RubyGems](https://rubygems.org/gems/credential_parity)

### RAtis

Ruby gem

A Ruby wrapper for ATIS, the SOAP service Valley Metro used for its transit data. We were its main contributors while we built [Valley Metro’s rider tools](https://velocitylabs.io/portfolio/).

- [On RubyGems](https://rubygems.org/gems/ratis)

### heroku-buildpack-libreoffice

Heroku buildpack

Installs a pinned version of LibreOffice on Heroku, verified with SHA-256, for converting documents to PDF. One buildpack replaces the apt buildpack plus a separate LibreOffice one.

### velocitylabs.io

Website

The code behind this website: a Jekyll site served by a small Sinatra app, with a spam-resistant contact form that needs no sessions.
